The British standard BS7907:2007, which was just released in December 2007, is more detailed than the previous 1997 version, which required that accessories such as buttons should not fall off under a force of less than 70N;

The European standard EN14682:2007 was also released in December 2007. The rope on the pocket of the garment cannot be looped into a lasso with a diameter greater than 75mm, and the average length of the rope protruding outside the garment must not exceed 23mm;

The European standard EN71-2 stipulates that the flame burning speed of the fabric shall not exceed 30mm/s;

Directive 2002/61/EC of the European Union stipulates that harmful AZO azo dyes should be restricted in each member state;

The EU Directive 2005/84/EC stipulates that the content of diethyl phthalate (DEHP) should not exceed 0.1%.

Key controlled substances

Excessive content of heavy metals lead and nickel

Some resin patterns or fabric coatings printed on children's clothing have excessive lead content; The metal auxiliary materials used, such as buttons, zippers, rivets, buttons, and decorative plaques, contain nickel coatings or are made of nickel alloys. Once heavy metals are absorbed by the human body, they accumulate in the liver, bones, kidneys, heart, and brain, causing irreversible damage to health.

Excessive content of diethyl phthalate

Some polyethylene materials used in children's clothing, such as plastic bibs, plastic reflective strips, plastic decorative signs, holiday performance accessories, etc., have excessive levels of diethyl phthalate. Excessive levels of diethyl phthalate can lead to infertility in adulthood or have adverse effects on the fetus.

Containing banned azo dyes

Prohibit azo dyes from reducing certain aromatic amines that have carcinogenic effects on the human body under certain conditions, and through activation, alter the structure of human DNA, causing human lesions and inducing cancer.

Excessive formaldehyde content

Formaldehyde, as a finishing additive in the textile process, is usually contained in resins or other additives. Formaldehyde has been identified by the World Health Organization as a carcinogenic and teratogenic substance. Excessive formaldehyde can cause severe inflammation of mucous membranes and respiratory tract, and can also lead to dermatitis. Children's respiratory tract and skin are very delicate, with poor tolerance and greater harm.

Other substances that affect children's physical and mental health and safety

The compass accessories on certain types of children's clothing are infused with mineral oils of hydrocarbons, which can easily cause chemical pneumonia in children if inhaled.
