French Food Contact Material French DGCCRF 2004-64
Food contact materials or products sold to France must not only comply with the EU Food Contact Materials Framework 1935/2004/EC regulations, but also meet local regulatory requirements in France, including French DGCCRF (French Directorate General for Competition, Consumer and Anti Fraud) 2004-64 and French Decret n ° 92-631. In addition to complying with the requirements of the European Union for plastic, rubber, ceramic glass and other products that come into contact with food, French regulations have special requirements for metal products, such as cookware with organic coatings. In addition to testing the coating surface, there are also corresponding requirements for the metal used as the substrate. For various metal materials such as stainless steel, carbon steel, cast iron, aluminum, and aluminum alloys, the requirements are also different, characterized by the requirements for metal composition and heavy metal migration limits. This part of the requirements is more complex than food grade regulations in other countries. It is worth noting that France stipulates that materials in contact with food must not contain brass components.
The following is an introduction to French DGCCRF 2004-64, a food grade contact material in France
French DGCCRF is the abbreviation for French food safety regulations. These products sold to France must comply with local regulations in France, including French DGCCRF 2004-64 and French D é cret n º 92-631, in addition to meeting the requirements of EU Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004. French regulations not only have special requirements for plastic and rubber products that come into contact with food, but also have special classification and requirements for metal products.
Testing regulations for stainless steel
Most stainless steels used for food contact materials contain 18% chromium, which is considered the most suitable concentration for corrosion resistance in contact materials for food and beverages. This is also the most ideal concentration for cost and production cost reduction.
In France, stainless steel used in food contact products must contain at least 13% chromium, as well as nickel and manganese. The biggest limitation is to impose other fused elements.
The special feature of French DGCCRF is that France requires separate testing for the coating and the materials inside, such as cookware with organic coatings. In addition to testing the coating surface, there are also corresponding requirements for the metal used as the substrate.
With the implementation of the EU Food Grade Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004, EU member states are closely monitoring the safety of products in contact with food. Different member states monitor the quality of products and materials in contact with food on the market according to their own food grade regulations. Products exported to the European Union will be subject to random inspections by the customs of EU member states in accordance with relevant regulations, and those that do not meet the standards will face the risk of return.
These products sold to France must comply with local regulations in France, including French DGCCRF 2004-64 and French D é cret no 92-631, in addition to meeting the requirements of EU Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004. French regulations not only have special requirements for plastic and rubber products that come into contact with food, but also for metal products, such as cookware with organic coatings. In addition to testing the coating surface, there are corresponding requirements for the metal used as the substrate.
